Over the years, Josh and Richard have long supported Region IV ODP, recognizing it as a great stage on which promising youth soccer players can realize their potential and gain the exposure they need to advance their collegiate and national team hopes. They have served Region IV in several coaching roles in the past, and move into the RIV Boys ODP Assistant Head Coaching positions with outstanding credentials, a high level of familiarity with the program, and commitment to the ODP mission.

Josh Kalkstein is the Director of Coaching at Marin FC and also is the Head Coach for Soccer at national powerhouse Marin Academy.  He also serves as the Assistant Athletic Director at Marin Academy.  The longest tenured RIV Boys ODP Head Coach, Kalkstein has had an integral role in developing the top players in the region since 2007.  Regarded as one of the top DOC’s in the country, he holds both the USSF A license and the NSCAA Premier license.

Richard Reece, an assistant at the University of Washington, holds the prestigious UEFA "A" along with the USSF "A" coaching license, a USSF National Goalkeeping License, a USSF Youth license, a NSCAA Premier Diploma, a NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma and NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma.  He is also a NSCAA national staff instructor and also served as the NSCAA Technical Director for Washington.

In addition to his duties at UW, he serves a Director at Crossfire Premier and coaches all the clubs goalkeepers as well coaching the ECNL teams and assisting the US Academy Development teams.

Dan Schell, also a long time member of Region IV ODP staff, brings a wealth of experience to an integral part of the program.  Schell, who serves as the Head Coach for Boys and Girls Soccer at Chaparral High School and as a Director at Heat FC in Las Vegas, has served as an assistant at the University of Portland and at UNLV.  In 2005, he was an assistant for the UP Women’s team which won the NCAA DI National Championship.

Region IV is delighted to have Josh, Richard, and Dan join Matt Mennell at the helm of its Boys ODP program and look forward to an outstanding future for our Region IV Boys in ODP.
