The schedule has been announced for the opening weekend of the 2012-2013 US Youth Soccer National League season as the boys gather Nov. 15-18 at Wilson Gillette Soccer Complex, Barton College and Fike High School in Wilson, N.C. National League Girls will kick off two weeks later, Nov. 29-Dec. 2. Former US Youth Soccer player Gabriel Borges, just 19 years old, is already testing his soccer skills abroad in Croatia. Borges is currently playing and training with Dubrava Zagreb, a Third Division squad, and learning the technical touch-and-go style of soccer employed by the club. As a midfielder with Santa Clara Sporting 93 (CA-N), Borges won back-to-back California North state titles and was part of the squad that reached the semifinals of the 2011 Under-17 Boys Region IV Championships.
